There will be no appeal by RWE on the Monksfield Solar Farm planning refusal decision. This is the news that we received earlier this week from Malvern Hills District Council’s planning officer after they had been informed by RWE.

THIS MEANS THAT PPLAN APPEARS TO HAVE WON ITS CAMPAIGN TO STOP MONKSFIELD SOLAR FARM BEING BUILT IN THE SETTING OF THE MALVERN HILLS.

To recap, the main reasons for MHDC’s refusal of planning permission were:

  • Damage to the setting of the Malvern Hills National Landscape
  • Impact on the character of the local landscape and public rights of way
  • Impact on the highway network
  • Fire risk to residents and the environment

As we stated our respone to the planning application refusal on 10th November, PPLAN fully supports these reasons, many of which coincided with our own research and the findings of our own domain experts.

PPLAN would like to thank all those who donated / gave their time / provided other support to the campaign. We would also like to thank MHDC’s planning department for providing guidance on the planning process, enabling us to submit our views. They should be commended on their professionalism and are in our view a credit to the council.

This website will remain in operation for the time being to serve as an information repository for others seeking information on solar farm planning applications. We would also encourage viewers to contact the UK Solar Alliance for further support.
